Volunteering

At TransCare our mission is to provide quality community transport, in-home assistance and community wellbeing services for clients across the Upper Hunter. Through providing these services we strive to allow clients to remain active within the community and living in their own home for longer.

Volunteering opportunities with TransCare include delivering accompanied activities such as shopping, attending appointments and running errands around town with clients. Companionship matches clients and volunteers to provide personal interactions that are key to social and emotional wellbeing. Volunteers also provide direct transport for clients needing to attend medical appointments within and outside the local area.

Our clients fall into two main categories: Aged Care (people over 65 year of age or 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders); and Community Transport (people who have limited or no access to private or public transport due to their location, time of travel, their financial resources, or physical and/or cognitive capabilities). Our office is in Scone and we provide services to clients living in the Muswellbrook Shire Council and Upper Hunter Shire Council areas.

All our volunteers undergo police checks and those who drive for us need to pass a driving medical and complete a driving history check.
