Transport

At TransCare we have two transport services with the focus of helping clients attend appointments.

Medical Transport

Are you are having trouble arranging a lift to medical appointments that might be in Singleton, Maitland, Newcastle, Tamworth or other areas?

TransCare services are non-emergency transport which enables members of our community to get to the appointments they need to with ease. It is a door to door service and is ideal if you need to get to a specialist or minor procedure but are unable to drive or arrange a lift.

You will be kept company for the trip by one of our friendly volunteer drivers who will ensure you arrive at your destination and home again. They are helpful however are unable to transfer you to and from the vehicle, so this is something you must be able to do for yourself.

The fees associated with this service vary depending on the distance travelled.

Bookings are essential and should be made with as much notice as possible so cars and volunteers can be arranged. On occasion we will combine trips if appointments and locations are similar so if you are hoping to take a carer or companion with you please make sure you let us know when booking.

Direct Transport

If you find it hard to travel on a bus, or need to attend local appointments at a specific time you may benefit from the TransCare Direct Transport service.

This door-to-door service provides a convenient way to get from A to B, allowing you the freedom to keep up to date while driving yourself is not convenient for any reason.

One of our friendly volunteers will pick you up and drop you at your destination within the Muswellbrook Shire Council and Upper Hunter Shire Council areas. When you are finished, or at a pre-arranged time, the driver will return to take you home.

This is a booked service and the client contribution will vary depending on where you are travelling.

Transport to Treatment

TransCare are proud to partner with the Cancer Council Hunter Valley to provide a free service for members of the community receiving cancer treatment.

Along with Bengalla, the Muswellbrook Shire Council and Upper Hunter Shire Council this service is focused on ensuring everyone has access to the treatment they require.

The Scone and District Cancer Support Group, as well as the Bulga Crafters are community groups who support TransCare clients by donating a variety of items like a wheel chair, blankets, beanies and other touches of comfort for clients using this service.

Social Trips

On our monthly Social Trips you will enjoy a day out with friends new and old on a bus trip to some great events, attractions and destinations. Our social trips we have attended Mudgee Small Farms Field Days, Broke Village Fair, Whale Watching Cruises in Newcastle, visits to Tamworth and other great day trips. These trips require you to be able to get to TransCare Office or Muswellbrook Railway for pick up.

Local Outings are a new addition to our calendar, with visits to places right on our doorstep. Offering shorter days but just as much social interaction these bus trips have visited local horse studs for tours, the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music for showcases, local museums and fantastic pubs for lunch. These trips offer door to door service if required in Scone and Muswellbrook.

Seats are limited on these popular activities and they book up quickly. Details for the upcoming trips are released on the first of February, April, June, August, October and December to coincide with the TransCare Bi-monthly Newsletter.

The cost varies depending on the trip.
