Can anyone use the transport service?

People whose access to mainstream transport services is limited by physical, social or geographical factors or have no access to private transport and they have difficulty in gaining access to conventional transport systems can use our transport.

People eligible to receive a HACC service are frail older people, people with disabilities, including children, and their carers. The services include bus and car transport, Domestic Assistance, Meals on Wheels, Social Support and Telecare. Within this overall population a number of special needs groups are identified:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders.
  • People with non English speaking backgrounds.
  • People with Dementia.
  • Financially disadvantaged persons.
  • Those in rural and remote areas.

An assessment is completed by the Access Point when people ask or are referred to HACC (Home and Community Care) services. The people who are most in need are given priority of access to services.
